The Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA) is an organisation of orthopaedic surgeons mainly from the Asia-Pacific region. It was founded as the Western Pacific Orthopaedic Association in 1962 by seven orthopaedic surgeons, meeting in Manila.
Members come from some forty countries from around the world, but mainly from the seventeen Member Chapters. These are Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam Turkey and Sri Lanka.

Purpose of the College is the promotion of Sport Science at the European level. Sport means all forms of human movement which aims at expressing or improving physical fitness or mental well-being, forming or ameliorating social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels. It shall advise European institutions as the EU and the Council of Europe on research problems and new research results available in the field of Sport Science.

The European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy is a non profit organisation representing 1800 therapists all over Europe. The federation was founded in 1989 in Paris. The overall purposes of the EFSHT are: To increase the interest in and exchange of knowledge about Hand Therapy as such. To coordinate activities among the European Societies to promote the exchange and development of knowledge. To share scientific experience and research with collegues, and also with Hand Surgeons and allied professionals dealing with hand patients. To expand the practice of Hand Therapy so that an increasing number of patients with hand injuries may receive hand rehabilitation.

Federation Of European Societies For Surgery Of The Hand

F.E.S.S.H. is an organisation which represents national hand surgery societies in Europe. Its object is to improve the standard of hand surgery throughout Europe. It works to improve the surgical facilities by advising European authorities of the requirements and standards in hand surgery. The purpose of the Federation of the European Societies for Surgery of the Hand is to rationalise and unify the training and educational basis for a qualification standard. This standard would be the minimal knowledge approved for the speciality of hand surgery within the European Community (E.C.) and within those countries which are members of F.E.S.S.H. but not of the E.C.
