Chapter in New Frontiers in Geriatrics Research 2003 It is vital at this time to evaluate the agenda for research on orthopedic management of geriatric patients. We approached this task by surveying the orthopedic literature to assess the status of knowledge and the quality of research on which present practice is based. By detecting areas where research has been lacking or of poor quality, or where results have been inconsistent or controversial, we have identified research studies that are urgently needed.

Database of Inherited Diseases. Part of the NLM site and works like PubMed
This database is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins and elsewhere, and developed for the World Wide Web by NCBI, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database contains textual information and references. It also contains copious links to MEDLINE and sequence records in the Entrez system, and links to additional related resources at NCBI and elsewhere. Highly Reputable

ORPHANET is a database dedicated to information on rare diseases and orphan drugs. Access to this database is free of charge.
Alphabetical list of diseases

Orthom.com provides information about orthopaedic medicine aimed at professionals. The site includes an online course (including 80 videoclips) in the clinical examination, diagnosis and treatment of the shoulder, with courses on the elbow and the wrist planned for the future. Users must complete a free registration process in order to use the online course material. This site is available in English, French and Dutch.

UK National Library of Health Primary Care Question Answering Service. This pilot service has been created to help members of the primary care teams of England get answers to their clinical questions.
Answers are provided by librarians and relate to the availability of online resources. Useful resource for finding information but the summaries and opinions are not expert (Comment by OWL Editor)
