After combining operations with the Capital Region Orthopaedic Group, the Division of Orthopaedics continues to flourish, meeting revenue and educational targets. By combining, the Division has been able to increase access to orthopaedic care to AMC; to provide economy of scale; and to broaden the academic and research base by adding 13 additional orthopaedists committed, along with the Division, to provide teaching to the students and residents. The Capital Region Orthopaedic Group is the largest provider of general and specialty orthopaedics in the area. With the new group, patients can be seen for emergencies the same day they call for an appointment. The amalgam of various sub-specialties allow for group review of difficult cases during weekly meetings. This improved volume of patients has a direct benefit on the student’s and resident’s learning experience.
